VOLUNTEERS:The good people who manage Sewickley Heights Golf Club have greatly assisted QVRA in putting on our first annual golf outing and we greatly appreciate their community spirit. However, an event like this requires approximately 10-12 volunteers for the day of the event. From registration/check-in activities to overseeing the putting contest to the 50/50 raffle we need your assistance.
Please contact Maura Pilewicz with any questions regarding Volunteers
ABOUT QVRA:
Brief History:
The Quaker Valley Recreation Association (QVRA) was first organized in 1972 by community volunteers to provide youth baseball and softball programs for boys and girls living or going to school in the Quaker Valley School District. In 1977, Sewickley Area Soccer (SAS) was formed to organize youth soccer programs for the same children within the community. In 2006 SAS merged with QVRA to create a single organization and in 2009, Sewickley Valley Lacrosse (SVLAX) joined the organization. Purpose/Function:
QVRA is a non-profit organization that supports youth athletics in the 11 surrounding communities. In many respects, QVRA fulfills the role of community recreation department for the 11 communities. QVRA acts as a central resource for the organization and execution of programs involving baseball, softball, soccer and lacrosse. Serving more than 1,000 children, our goal is to facilitate and enable participation by any and all interested families and to create a positive environment for players.
Fields Project:
Several years ago, we began an ambitious endeavor to develop much-needed fields on 37 acres which QVRA leases from the Quaker Valley School District. Thanks to the community’s generosity, we have made significant strides in the development of this beautiful park. However, there is much work remaining to reach our goals of adding soccer and lacrosse fields, a community pavilion and other amenities to complete what will ultimately become a central sports and nature facility for our communities to enjoy and take pride
